About Me

My Background

I am a licensed clinical psychologist (license # PSY42110) in the state of California. I received my Doctorate of Psychology and my MA in Psychology from Alliant International University and my bachelor of arts in Psychology from Western Kentucky University. I completed my pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at A Better Way in Berkeley, CA providing therapy, assessment, and reunification services to families and children in the foster care system. I have been practicing in-home and school-based therapy since 2007. I also completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2013.

My Philosophy

My therapy practice is dedicated to serving families, teens, and young adults, tailoring the therapeutic techniques to each person/family, and offering parental support and tools. I believe in a holistic approach to therapy and strongly encourage a collaborative spirit between the therapist and the client.  Sessions are provided in the privacy of your own home or virtually. Note: I am currently offering sessions via telehealth only, due to COVID-19.

Parental and Family Involvement

A necessary element when a child or teenager is participating in therapy is parental and family involvement. The amount of involvement is determined by the child's and the family's needs. Attachment style, temperament, and parent-child/family dynamics will be assessed and discussed through out the treatment process. This may include discussing the parents' own childhoods and exploration of feelings regarding parenting. Parent consultation (and sometimes sibling sessions) are also an important piece of the therapeutic process. Parents must be prepared for their own potential change and growth to take place.

Theoretical Approaches and Modalities

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems, Psychodynamic Therapy, SandTray Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Goal Oriented Therapy, Yoga, and Somatic Mindfulness
